INTERNATIONAL MUSEUM DAY 2026: MUSEUMS UNITING A DIVIDED WORLD
In an era where the world is increasingly fragmented by geopolitical borders, social
polarization, and cultural divides, museums emerge as a powerful antidote. Every year on
May 18, the global museum community celebrates International Museum Day (IMD), an
initiative organized by the International Council of Museums (ICOM) since 1977. This
celebration aims to raise public awareness of the crucial role museums play as mediums for cultural exchange, enrichment of knowledge, and the cultivation of mutual understanding and peace among global societies.
